Refurbishment of an attic, located in the Sants district of Barcelona, on a property from the middle of the 20th century with an original floor plan with load-bearing walls typical of the estates of the time.
The rearrangement of the spaces is the backbone of the project. To adapt the house to the needs of the new tenants, we concentrated the day area (living room and two studies) facing the terrace and the bedrooms at the back of the apartment.
The project of total redistribution of the spaces demands a complex but at the same time very interesting structural intervention. One of the load-bearing walls is moved to make the living room wider, allowing it to become a central hinge connecting the two studios.
To finish reinforcing the concept of homogenization and communication of spaces, a traditional bevel tile is used, glazed in white and with a natural terracotta finish, in various areas (bathrooms, kitchen, living room). All this is combined with a terracotta color paint in certain areas and a natural varnish of the pine wood that brings its tone closer to that of the bevel tile.
